It's about time I finally got this site underway. Why do we need an Iknitarod webpage as well as the ravelry group site? Well, there's been a lot of interest, but not everybody is aware of, or a member of ravelry. I figured this was a great place to get links, blogs, and all kind of information in one cohesive place. Consider it dipping a toe in the water before diving into the snuggly warm internet jacuzzi that is ravelry.
The Iknitarod started last year, and I think it's so wonderful that there are so many fiber artists out there that are interested in dog sledding, and the Iditarod in particular. I'll be adding more Iditarod links and to the website in general as we go along, so feel free to e-mail at iknitarod@gmail.com with any ideas or contributions. In the meantime, enjoy the Iditarod, knit knit knit (or crochet, or spin, or...you get the idea) and don't forget to join in the message boards on ravelry and post your progress! Don't forget those checkin points either, we want to see what you've been up to. Enjoy!
By the way, here's a link to the Iditarod Insider where you can follow the mushers' progress on GPS, watch video feeds of the start, finish, and checkin points, and get all kinds of incredible behind the scenes information. For those of us who can't be there, or don't live in Alaska to see news stories, this is the best and only way to get your fix. I love it!
